Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Sunday, March 22, 2026, initiated the disbursement of ₹9,000 crore under the 'Rythu Bharosa' scheme, a move aimed at providing financial support to an estimated 70 lakh farmers across the state. The announcement, made from Narmeta in Siddipet district, signifies the government's commitment to agricultural welfare.

The scheme's total outlay of ₹9,000 crore will be distributed in three installments over a period of 45 days, with the first tranche, amounting to approximately ₹3,590 crore, released concurrently with the launch event. This phased disbursement is reportedly a consequence of the state's current financial standing. The government intends to prioritize small and marginal farmers, those cultivating less than an acre, before extending the benefits to landowners with larger holdings.

The 'Rythu Bharosa' scheme, presented as an investment support program, has also seen an expansion under the Congress administration to encompass tenant farmers and landless agricultural laborers, who are slated to receive ₹12,000 annually. The funds are being directly deposited into farmers' bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Alongside the financial scheme, Reddy also laid the foundation stone for a palm oil refinery unit, signaling a push towards promoting the oil palm industry, with assurances of procurement from 10 lakh acres. The Chief Minister also stated the government's intention to launch Telangana Public Schools in the upcoming academic year, aiming to bolster the quality of education in state-run institutions through comprehensive upgrades and skill development.

During the launch, Reddy also made a pointed reference to the Central government's paddy procurement, claiming it fell short of state efforts. He stated that the state had procured 71 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, while the Central government only managed 50 lakh metric tonnes. He further challenged the previous BRS rule regarding fund allocation to Kodangal. The Chief Minister also indicated that the government had already expended over ₹1 lakh crore on farmers' welfare within the last two years and had provided compensation for crop losses. Efforts are reportedly underway to lobby the Union government for increased fertilizer supply.
