Unaddressed Grievances Mount as BJP Leader Cites Farmer Distress and Unmet Promises
Bharatiya Janata Party's Telangana unit president, N Ramchander Rao, has penned an open letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, cataloging a litany of "governance failures" and urging a shift in focus from demolition drives to pressing public hardships. The accusations, levied on Thursday, centre on a perceived neglect of key sectors, including agriculture, education, and public employment, alongside significant financial obligations.

The BJP leader highlighted that farmers are currently facing "severe distress," with the promised ₹15,000 under the 'Rythu Bharosa' scheme allegedly reduced to ₹12,000 and not fully disbursed for several seasons. A substantial sum, estimated at around ₹12,000 crore, of pending retirement benefits for government employees is also reportedly causing considerable struggle for retirees. Furthermore, Rao asserted that thousands of crores in fee-reimbursement arrears remain outstanding, creating uncertainty for students from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Backward Class (BC) communities. The administration's pledge to issue a job calendar and fill two lakh government posts also stands, according to the BJP, as an unfulfilled commitment.

Urban Decay and Neglect Alleged
Beyond these immediate concerns, Ramchander Rao also castigated both the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration and the current Congress government for the "decline" of Hyderabad. He specifically pointed to issues like pothole-ridden roads, persistent traffic congestion, and deteriorating drainage systems, attributing blame to former Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao for a decade of inaction. The Chief Minister, who presently holds the municipal portfolio, was also criticized for allegedly failing to release promised funds—between ₹2,000 and ₹3,000 crore—earmarked for city development.

Rao further alleged that the Congress party's focus has veered towards "religious politics," sidelining the needs of the majority community. He invoked a past Congress government's decision (G.O. 676 under Y S Rajasekhara Reddy) that he claims led to the closure of toddy compounds, thereby "devastating" the traditional livelihood of the Goud community.

"A Strong Alternative"
In earlier pronouncements, Rao has positioned the BJP as a "strong alternative" in Telangana, calling for broader public support to bring the party to power in upcoming Assembly elections. He has also criticized the state government's handling of the monsoon, suggesting that even light rainfall cripples Hyderabad's traffic, and advised the Chief Minister to concentrate on governance rather than frequent visits to New Delhi. Additionally, Rao has contested the government's narrative on fertilizer shortages, particularly concerning urea, accusing the administration of failing to manage distribution effectively despite alleged surpluses.
