Schemes Fall Short, Say Critics
Durai Vaiko pointed fingers at the sitting BJP MLA, C. Saraswathi, in Modakkurichi on Wednesday, questioning the effectiveness of government programs. Vaiko, campaigning for the DMK's candidate, S. Senthil Nathan, claimed the Jal Jeevan Mission had been poorly executed in the constituency.
He further critiqued the lack of support for agricultural 'value addition', particularly for local crops like turmeric, sugarcane, and paddy. This charge comes amidst the Tamil Nadu assembly election, with the vote scheduled for April 23.
Vijay's New Party Could Shift Tides
Meanwhile, Durai Vaiko, also a Trichy MP and MDMK principal secretary, suggested that actor Vijay's TVK party could potentially capture 15% of the vote share. He posited this could undermine the AIADMK alliance and bolster the DMK alliance's chances in the upcoming polls.
A Shifting Landscape?
The Modakkurichi constituency is slated for a political contest, with the MDMK candidate Senthil Nathan running under the DMK's 'Rising Sun' symbol. The electoral environment in Tamil Nadu is described as heating up, with various analyses suggesting a complex interplay of established parties and newer political forces.
