The six-seat Model Y L from Tesla has appeared in the United States, carrying a price tag of $62,000. This machine, an extended version of the common Model Y, is scheduled for delivery in October 2026 to its US buyers. Its availability here comes nearly a year after it first debuted in China, where it reportedly achieved strong sales among consumers.
The car also carries a noted range of over 300 miles. For comparison, when the Model Y L was rumored for China, its price hovered around $55,600 (¥400K), suggesting a less costly entry point than the current US offering.
A Longer View on its Making
Tesla first offered the Model Y L in China last year, a time when the firm reportedly faced intensified competition from other electric vehicle manufacturers such as ' BYD ', ' Xiaomi ', ' Li Auto ', and ' NIO '. This expanded Model Y was understood to fill a hole in Tesla's array of cars, giving buyers who needed more seats an option beyond the ' Model X ', which often costs twice that of a standard ' Model Y '. Earlier reports about the Model Y L's introduction implied it might possess more than just extra seating, perhaps including better materials or performance gains, to set it apart from its smaller siblings. Intriguingly, ' Elon Musk ', Tesla's leader, reportedly doubted last year that the Y L would ever arrive in the US. This recent introduction inverts that prior stance; a public accounting for the shift has not been widely given.
