Los Angeles - Prosecutors have laid out a grim account of alleged actions by singer David Burke, known as D4vd, who faces charges including murder. An evidence filing presented on Wednesday details claims that Burke fatally stabbed 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez multiple times. The allegations state he then dismembered her body in the garage of his Hollywood Hills residence. This alleged disposal of remains reportedly involved tools purchased online, including chainsaws.
Authorities assert that Burke met Rivas Hernandez when she was 11, and that the abuse began when he was 18 and she was 13. Prosecutors suggest the motive for the killing stemmed from a threat by Rivas Hernandez to expose their relationship.
Investigators located Rivas Hernandez's dismembered body in Burke's car. Evidence, including her DNA, has reportedly been found in Burke's garage. Prosecutors claim that following the stabbing, Burke used a paddling pool to contain blood and placed body parts into bags, some of which were left in his vehicle. Over the subsequent weeks, it is alleged he ordered two chainsaws from online retailers, along with a body bag, heavy-duty laundry bags, and an inflatable pool. Her fingers have not been recovered.

Burke’s legal name is David Burke. His defense has maintained his innocence, stating he did not cause Rivas Hernandez's death. The singer, who performed at the Coachella music festival prior to the alleged killing, had his album released around the same time Rivas Hernandez is believed to have died. Despite Rivas Hernandez’s family confiscating her phone after she was located, documents suggest Burke continued to contact her, even after being informed of her age.
The investigation involved the Riverside County Sheriff Department, and Burke was charged with first-degree murder with special circumstances. His Tesla was towed from near his home as part of the inquiry.
