NEW INSTITUTION TO MIRROR BUSINESS SCHOOL MODEL FOR FARMERS
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has put forth a proposal to establish an 'Indian School of Agriculture', intended to serve as a premier institution for bolstering the state's farm sector. This new entity is envisioned to operate along the lines of the highly regarded 'Indian School of Business' (ISB), aiming to integrate advanced technologies and provide crucial support services directly to farmers. The initiative was unveiled during the sixth District Collectors' Conference, where Naidu stressed the need for systemic improvements in agriculture and emphasized the role of technology, including AI.
The Chief Minister directed district collectors to concentrate on farmers' welfare and enhancing agricultural systems, with a specific emphasis on leveraging technology for better governance and service delivery. The proposed school is expected to render AI-based technical services to the farming community. Discussions also encompassed water security, with plans for water release for the upcoming Kharif season scheduled for May 15th. A 90-day program, commencing April 1st, has been mandated for water conservation efforts, including the desilting of water bodies, to ensure sufficient water availability.

COLLECTORS TASKED WITH GROUNDING PROJECTS AND WELFARE DELIVERY
Beyond agricultural reform, Naidu also set governance targets for the district collectors. Collectors are instructed to dedicate eight days each month to field visits, ensuring direct engagement with local issues and project implementation. A key directive involves prioritizing the "grounding" of various projects within their respective districts. Furthermore, the Chief Minister announced that financial assistance under the third phase of the 'Annadata Sukhibhava' scheme would be disbursed on March 13th, coinciding with mass house-warming ceremonies for 2.50 lakh beneficiaries as a "Ugadi gift." A special monthly program is also to be conducted to address and resolve land disputes, highlighting a broader focus on administrative efficiency and public service delivery. The government also aims to provide a drinking water tap to every household within two years.
BACKGROUND: A SHIFT IN GOVERNANCE PRIORITIES
The proposal for an 'Indian School of Agriculture' emerges as Chief Minister Naidu articulates a clear agenda centered on strengthening the farm sector, a cornerstone of Andhra Pradesh's economy. The blueprint appears to borrow from the success of the Indian School of Business, suggesting an approach that blends academic rigor with practical, technology-driven solutions for agriculture. This initiative signals a deliberate move to modernize farming practices and institutionalize support for farmers, moving beyond traditional methods.
