The Yash Chopra Foundation (YCF), the charitable arm of Yash Raj Films, has launched its 'Media Scholarship Program,' an initiative designed to support the educational aspirations of children belonging to low-income families within the Hindi film industry. Launched on September 27, 2024, coinciding with what would have been the 92nd birthday of the late filmmaker Yash Chopra, the program aims to provide financial assistance for higher education in film, media, and communication studies. The foundation offers a package of up to Rs. 5 lakhs per student to cover educational expenses.
The scholarship specifically targets children of registered members of the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) who hail from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This year, five students have been selected following a multi-stage screening process. These recipients are slated to pursue studies in fields such as Film, Television & New Media Production, Multimedia and Mass Communication, and Animation & VFX.
