Archery World Cup Shanghai Sees Mixed Team Triumph
The Indian compound mixed team, comprising Madhura Dhamangaonkar and Abhishek Verma, clinched the bronze medal at the Archery World Cup 2025 Shanghai. This victory came after they defeated Malaysia with a score of 144-142 in the third-place playoff. The Shanghai event, which concluded recently, also saw Indian compound archers secure a gold and a silver medal in team events, highlighting the nation's increasing presence in the sport.

Team's Journey and Individual Performances
The path to the bronze medal in Shanghai involved a semi-final loss to Great Britain. Madhura Dhamangaonkar and Abhishek Verma were defeated by Ella Gibson and Ajay Scott of Great Britain with a score of 156-158. Despite this setback, they regrouped to face Malaysia for the bronze.

Individual archers also showcased notable performances. Broader Context of Indian Archery Success
The Archery World Cup circuit, consisting of four stages held globally, serves as a pathway for archers to qualify for the prestigious Archery World Cup Final. The top eight individual archers in each category across these stages earn a spot in the final competition.

Recent results indicate a growing depth and consistency in Indian compound archery. In the Archery World Cup 2025 Stage 1 in Auburndale, USA, the men's compound team, featuring Abhishek Verma, Rishabh Yadav, and Ojas Deotale, also secured a bronze medal, defeating Denmark 230-223. This medal was India's first at the 2025 Archery World Cup season.
Furthermore, the compound mixed team event has gained prominence, having been added to the program for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. This development underscores the strategic importance of successes in this discipline for Indian archery's long-term goals. In the World Games 2025, Rishabh Yadav also secured a bronze medal in compound archery, marking India's first medal in that sport at the event and their second archery medal in the history of the Games. Yadav's individual success included a notable match against compatriot Abhishek Verma, whom he defeated 149-147 for the bronze.
