A police constable, Ravichandran (36), attached to the Vellakovil police station, and the lorry driver, Senthil (48), were reportedly on the road attempting to clear the barricade from the highway.

The impact was severe, with all six people – the constable, the lorry driver, and the four car occupants – sustaining fatal injuries and dying at the scene.
