Central to this ambitious project is the 'Giri Darshak' initiative, which aims to train local tribal youth as tourist guides. This program seeks to leverage the area's natural allure and rich cultural heritage for economic development, while simultaneously integrating communities previously associated with left-wing extremism into the mainstream.
The initiative, described as a shift from "conflict to constructive engagement," involves providing stipends to the trainees during their learning period. These soon-to-be guides will not only lead visitors through the picturesque landscapes but also act as ambassadors, showcasing the region's tribal culture, traditions, and folklore. The Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC), in collaboration with the State Tribal Welfare Department, is spearheading this endeavor.

Recent pronouncements from the Telangana Director General of Police (DGP), Shivdhar Reddy, declared the Karreguttalu Hills "Naxal-free." These include a new police outpost to ensure tourist safety and an inter-agency coordination centre involving various security and administrative bodies. The establishment of Forward Operation Bases (FOBs) at five-kilometer intervals is also planned to bolster security and deter any potential resurgence of Maoist activity.
