GOVERNMENT-BACKED INITIATIVES AIM TO BRIDGE SKILLS GAP WITH FOCUS ON YOUTH AND EMPLOYMENT
The Telangana government, through the TGBCESDTC, is initiating a four-day AI and Life Skills training program, targeting young people across the state. The stated objective is to equip them with foundational Artificial Intelligence knowledge and enhance their employability by improving their technical acumen and life skills.
The program is designed as an interactive, multi-phase initiative to accommodate student schedules. Director Mamidi Harikrishna of TGBCESDTC highlighted that the training aims to introduce rural and urban youth to AI fundamentals and emerging technologies. This free programme seeks to boost employment prospects by offering new technical skills.
Globally, similar upskilling efforts are underway. In the United Kingdom, a program launched on January 28, 2026, offers free AI training to all adults, aiming to provide 10 million workers with key AI skills by 2030. This initiative, part of the AI Skills Boost, provides industry-vetted courses accessible through the government's AI Skills Hub, granting participants a virtual AI foundations badge upon completion.

Further afield, the Indian Association of Life Skills Education offered a "Train the Trainer Programme" on June 16, 2025, focusing on empowering educators and professionals to integrate life skills. This program emphasized experiential learning, aiming for participants to understand the importance of life skills, demonstrate core competencies, and create inclusive learning environments.
These developments echo broader trends in educational and vocational training. For instance, the Canadian Public Safety Department has previously engaged in life skills training programs aimed at preventing problematic behaviours among youth, working with community representatives and educational institutions. This approach targets young people susceptible to drug and alcohol consumption or delinquent actions, providing tools to resist negative influences.
A broad curriculum of training modules, some lasting only a day and others up to two or three days, was also noted, covering areas such as Adolescent Education, Art Integration, Career Guidance, Classroom Management, Critical & Creative Thinking, Cyber Safety, Ethics, Experiential Learning, Gender Sensitivity, Happy Classrooms, Inclusive Education, and various aspects of the National Education Policy. This extensive list includes specialized training in AI use within classrooms and a range of subject-specific pedagogical approaches.
