A New Symbol for Democratic Continuity
The Rajasthan Legislative Assembly has launched a new emblem, a symbolic representation intended to embody the state’s dedication to constitutional principles and its distinctive cultural fabric. This unveiling coincides with the Assembly’s 75th year since its establishment. The emblem, a product of the initiative led by Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani, incorporates elements significant to Rajasthan’s identity.
Visualizing Heritage and Values
The new emblem integrates symbols such as the Rohida flower, the state's official bloom, and the Khejri tree, a potent symbol of resilience and life in arid environments. Also featured are the camel, the state animal, and the Great Indian Bustard, the state bird. The Assembly building itself is central to the design, underscoring institutional strength. The inclusion of the Ashoka Pillar further signifies justice and inclusivity. This visual lexicon aims to connect the Assembly's historical journey with its present functions and future outlook.

Naming of Assembly Gates
In conjunction with the emblem's release, Governor Haribhau Bagade announced new names for 13 gates within the Assembly premises. These include designations like ‘Kartavya Dwar’ (Duty Gate), ‘Sankalp Dwar’ (Resolve Gate), and ‘Shaurya Dwar’ (Valour Gate). These names are reportedly drawn from Rajasthan’s history of bravery and heroic traditions, serving as a tribute to the state's legacy.
Assembly Marks 75 Years of Governance
The introduction of the emblem and the renaming of the gates occurred during a ceremony held at the Assembly premises. Governor Haribhau Bagade presided over the event, which was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa, Cabinet colleagues, Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Jully, and other members of the Legislative Assembly from both ruling and opposition parties. Assembly Secretary Bharat Bhushan Sharma was also present.
Speaker Vasudev Devnani highlighted the Assembly's historical significance, noting its pivotal role in Rajasthan's evolution from princely states to its modern democratic structure. Governor Bagade remarked on the emblem as a symbol of the collective spirit and values of Rajasthan's people, particularly within the context of India's 'Amrit Kaal'. He also commented that democracy strengthens when citizens are aware of both their duties and rights.

Broader Initiatives at the Assembly
This emblem and gate-naming ceremony follows a series of reforms and innovations introduced by Speaker Vasudev Devnani over the past two-and-a-half years. These have included efforts to modernize the Assembly's functioning, such as digital and paperless systems, a Digital Museum, a Constitution Gallery, and a Vande Mataram Gallery. The Speaker's initiatives have also focused on public engagement, with programs like 'Jan Darshan' and the development of various thematic gardens. These measures aim to bridge the gap between citizens and democratic processes, positioning the Rajasthan Assembly as a progressive legislative institution.
