A man accused of making a bomb threat at a Peter Kay show was removed from court today after beginning to undress during proceedings. The incident occurred during a hearing at Bolton Magistrates' Court, where Leon Jenkins, 32, faces charges related to an alleged bomb hoax.
Jenkins, reportedly agitated, started removing his clothing in the dock, prompting an immediate halt to the hearing and his escort from the courtroom. He was later returned to the court, still clothed, to continue his appearance. The disruption unfolded amidst the trial concerning an incident at Manchester Arena during a Peter Kay performance.
The alleged hoax involved a device that caused the evacuation of the venue and the cancellation of the comedian's set. Prosecutors allege Jenkins sent a message suggesting a bomb was present.
Jenkins, of no fixed address, is charged with sending a hoax bomb threat and causing a public nuisance. He has pleaded not guilty to both charges. The court heard the prosecution’s case, detailing the circumstances of the alleged threat and the subsequent security response.
