Delhi faces significant traffic adjustments due to the concurrent India AI Impact Summit 2026 and the commencement of CBSE board examinations. The city's traffic police have issued extensive advisories, detailing numerous routes to avoid and suggesting alternative paths for commuters. These measures are intended to facilitate the movement of dignitaries attending the summit, scheduled from February 16 to February 20 at Pragati Maidan's Bharat Mandapam, while also ensuring students can reach their examination centers for the Class 10 and 12 board exams, which begin on February 17.

The traffic police have deployed over 10,000 personnel and appointed special nodal officers to manage the complexities arising from VIP movement for the summit and the needs of approximately 46 lakh students appearing for their exams. Essential services, medical emergency vehicles, and diplomatic movement are prioritized, with traffic flow expected to be slow in central administrative and diplomatic zones. Commuters are strongly advised to utilize public transport, particularly the Delhi Metro, which is operating normally, and to plan their journeys with extra time.

Traffic Restrictions and Advisories
The Delhi Traffic Police's advisory identifies a substantial list of roads where traffic movement will be impacted or restricted due to VIP movement for the AI Impact Summit. These restrictions are expected to cause congestion and delays.

Central Delhi Stretches: Numerous key roads in central Delhi are subject to restrictions. These include:
Mathura Road, specifically from Subramanian Bharti Marg to Lodhi Road Flyover.
Subramania Bharti Marg, Rajesh Pilot Marg, Tees January Marg, Akbar Road, Teen Murti Marg, Mother Teresa Crescent, Sardar Patel Marg, Janpath, Firoz Shah Road, Shanti Path, Satya Marg, Africa Avenue, Kamal Ataturk Marg, APJ Abdul Kalam Road, Dr Zakir Hussain Marg, and Kartavya Path.
Stretches of Ring Road, particularly the Bhikaji Cama Place to Dhaula Kuan section.
NH-48 from Rangpuri to Dhaula Kuan.
Bhairon Marg and parts of Mathura Road are designated as restricted areas during route movements.
Airport and Railway Station Access: While no major diversions are planned for routes leading to Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), commuters are advised to start early to avoid delays. Suggested routes for airport access include NH-48, Sector-22 Dwarka Tunnel, and outer corridors. For New Delhi, Old Delhi, and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations, commuters are advised to use Ring Road, Ashram Chowk, and Vande Mataram Marg corridors.
Diversions for Non-Delhi Bound Vehicles: Trucks and commercial vehicles not destined for Delhi will be diverted to the Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways to reduce congestion within the capital.
Coordinated Event Management
The overlapping schedules of the AI Impact Summit and the CBSE board examinations necessitate a comprehensive and coordinated approach from traffic authorities. The summit, billed as the largest of its kind globally, is expected to host approximately 20 world leaders, ministerial delegations from over 45 countries, and over 35,000 delegates.
