Two men are in hospital following separate shooting incidents in Western Sydney, occurring approximately an hour apart on Sunday night. One man was struck by gunfire on Northcott Road in Lalor Park just before 8:45 PM, while another, a 25-year-old, was shot on Arundle Road in Bass Hill.

Police are investigating both incidents independently, though they do not currently believe the two shootings are linked. Authorities did, however, locate a car on fire on Rex Road in Georges Hall, which they suspect is connected to the Bass Hill incident. A 46-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning at a residence on Northcott Road and is being questioned by police.

Scenes of Violence Unfold
The first shooting unfolded on Northcott Road, Lalor Park, where multiple shots were fired from a residence. Later, a separate call brought police to Arundle Road, Bass Hill, where the second man was injured. A Holden Commodore was discovered ablaze on Rex Road, Georges Hall, with investigators considering it suspicious and potentially linked to the Bass Hill incident.

Police have established crime scenes at both shooting locations and report finding "several fired cartridge cases." Despite the proximity in time and location, detectives maintain no confirmed link exists between the two events or the vehicles involved.
Echoes of Past Incidents?
Recent events in Sydney's west have seen similar patterns of violence. Reports from prior nights mention a shooting in Merrylands where a car, similar to one seen in relation to a Guildford incident, was reportedly used. Separately, a home on Bluegum Avenue in Prestons was targeted in the early hours, with bullets fired into the residence. One of those shots narrowly missed a resident, according to Superintendent Scott Tanner. While Superintendent Tanner stopped short of confirming a link to the earlier Sunday night incidents, he acknowledged their similar nature. He also stated it was "too early to determine" if these shootings are connected to organised crime, but emphasized that the two events on Sunday were "definitely linked."
