Tom Kane, a prolific voice actor whose distinctive vocal work graced numerous animated projects and video games, has died at the age of 64. His death was confirmed by his talent agency, Galactic Productions, on Monday. Kane was widely recognized for his portrayal of Yoda in 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' and for voicing Professor Utonium in 'The Powerpuff Girls'.
Kane's career encompassed a vast array of roles, spanning nearly 300 acting credits over decades. He lent his voice to other significant characters within the 'Star Wars' universe, including Admiral Ackbar in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' and numerous other characters across animated series and video games. Beyond his 'Star Wars' contributions, his resume includes notable performances as Darwin in 'The Wild Thornberrys', HIM in 'The Powerpuff Girls', and characters in other popular cartoons such as 'Kim Possible', 'Avatar: The Last Airbender', and 'Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends'. His voice also featured prominently as a narrator and announcer in various television shows and documentaries.

Kane's journey into the 'Star Wars' franchise began in the mid-1990s, and he became a consistent presence in Lucasfilm projects. The actor had previously disclosed a health struggle, with his daughter sharing in 2020 that he had suffered a stroke which impacted his ability to communicate verbally. Despite this, reports indicated he remained in good spirits and showed signs of improvement. Kane passed away in Kansas City, Missouri, following complications from a stroke. He is remembered not only for his extensive acting career but also for his personal life as a devoted husband and father, with a large family.
