Coleen Lamarre, 63, mother of accused double murderer Beau Lamarre-Condon, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with intending to pervert the course of justice. Police allege Lamarre attempted to influence a key witness in her son's upcoming trial. The charge relates to an alleged attempt to alter evidence concerning the deaths of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies. Lamarre was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
The Accusations Unfold
Lamarre was apprehended at her residence in Balmain, Sydney, on Wednesday morning. Detectives from the Homicide Squad laid the charge after an investigation into her alleged actions. The arrest comes as Lamarre-Condon himself faces serious accusations. He is accused of using a police-issued handgun to kill Baird, a television presenter, and Davies, a Qantas flight attendant, at Baird's Paddington home. It is further alleged that Lamarre-Condon then transported their bodies in surfboard bags to a rural property in Bungonia, approximately 170km south of Sydney, before discarding them.

Lamarre-Condon, formerly a serving police officer, was dismissed from the NSW Police Force a month after his arrest. He has since pleaded not guilty to the murder charges. His trial, anticipated to be a lengthy three-month proceeding, is slated to commence in September, with potentially up to 300 witnesses expected to testify.
Background to the Case
The deaths of Baird and Davies have cast a shadow, particularly given the alleged involvement of a serving police officer. Lamarre-Condon reportedly surrendered to police after the bodies were discovered. Public statements from Lamarre-Condon have included accusations of 'serious misconduct and corruption' against some investigating officers.
