Sherrone Moore, former head football coach at the University of Michigan, has been sentenced to 18 months of probation after a confrontation at the apartment of Paige Shiver, an executive assistant with whom he had an extramarital affair. The sentencing, handed down on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, means Moore will avoid jail time, provided he adheres to the terms of his probation.
The former coach entered a no-contest plea to misdemeanor charges of trespassing and malicious use of a telecommunications device. Judge Cedric Simpson issued the probation, which includes a directive for Moore to maintain no contact with Shiver and to continue mental health treatment. He is also prohibited from alcohol and recreational marijuana use.
Moore's legal troubles stem from an incident on December 10, 2025, following his termination from the Michigan program. He reportedly went to Shiver's apartment, using a door code she had previously provided, and engaged in a heated exchange. Records indicate multiple phone calls between the two on that date.

During the hearing, Shiver, through her representative, reportedly requested the harshest punishment the court could impose. Judge Simpson acknowledged Shiver's role in the leniency of the sentence, stating that she, the person Moore "betrayed," was instrumental in saving him from the "full wrath of this court."
Moore, 40, had a coaching record of 17-8 over two seasons with the Wolverines. His dismissal came after the university investigated his relationship with Shiver, with termination grounds cited as lying during that investigation. The initial charges against Moore included a felony count of home invasion, which have since been dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
In court, Moore expressed gratitude to his wife, his faith, and his legal team. He had previously asserted that he did not physically harm or threaten Shiver, though he admitted to bringing scissors and grabbing butter knives, insisting he did not point them at her. The judge also admonished the police for what was perceived as overly lenient treatment of Moore when he was taken into custody.
