Overnight attacks have seen Russia unleash hundreds of drones, with Ukrainian forces claiming to have intercepted a large portion of them. However, the sheer volume of the assault overwhelmed air defenses in some instances.

In a rare escalation, Russia has also conducted daytime drone attacks, targeting energy infrastructure and industrial facilities. These strikes have led to civilian deaths and significant damage in various regions, including Cherkasy. The Ukrainian air force reported launching over 360 drones within a ten-hour period, with more than 345 shot down.

These attacks coincide with diplomatic overtures. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has engaged in talks with US representatives, including figures like Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, aiming for a resolution to the prolonged conflict. Moscow, in turn, has blamed Ukraine for bomb attacks on railways in Russia's western Bryansk and Kursk regions. The frequency and scale of these exchanges suggest a continuing pattern of reciprocal escalation in the conflict.
