Early Sunday Blast Causes Minor Damage; Authorities Cautious
OSLO, NORWAY — An explosion damaged the U.S. Embassy in Oslo early Sunday. Norwegian police are investigating the incident, which occurred outside the entrance to the Consular Affairs office. No injuries were reported, and the damage sustained was described as minor.

Police officials stated that the device, reportedly inside a backpack, detonated near the embassy entrance. While the Norwegian police security service, PST, has mobilized additional personnel, they have not altered the country's terror threat level. Authorities have made no arrests thus far and are reportedly keeping an open mind regarding the motive, with one official noting, "we have not committed to any single hypothesis."

Residents in the vicinity of the embassy reported hearing a significant blast. Norwegian authorities confirmed they are in contact with U.S. diplomatic representatives. The embassy is located in the Morgedalsvegen district, approximately 7 kilometers outside the city center.
