Filmmakers Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and Bhushan Kumar have formally announced their collaboration on a cinematic venture, Operation Sindoor. This project centers on India's military strikes targeting terror infrastructure within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The narrative draws directly from Lt Gen K.J.S. ‘Tiny’ Dhillon’s book, Operation Sindoor: The Untold Story of India’s Deep Strikes Inside Pakistan.
The film aims to chronicle the events that transpired following the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack, an incident where 26 civilians were killed. India's response, code-named 'Operation Sindoor', involved precise strikes on nine terror camps. This operation is highlighted as a significant moment, marking the first instance of a nuclear-armed nation executing deep, targeted strikes within another nuclear-armed country. Agnihotri has indicated the film will blend factual events with cinematic storytelling, intending to spark conversations around recent history and explore themes of strategy, courage, and sacrifice.

Actor Varun Dhawan Reportedly in Discussions
Recent reports suggest that actor Varun Dhawan is in preliminary talks for a lead role in Operation Sindoor. Dhawan, who recently appeared in Border 2, has reportedly shown early interest in the subject matter. This potential collaboration comes amidst numerous offers for Dhawan in similar military-themed films. Negotiations are also reportedly underway for a potential multi-film deal between Dhawan and Bhushan Kumar.
Context and Production
The announcement of Operation Sindoor positions it as a continuation of Agnihotri's pattern of creating films inspired by real-life events, following his recent trilogy: The Kashmir Files, The Tashkent Files, and The Bengal Files. T-Series, headed by Bhushan Kumar, and Agnihotri's I Am Buddha Productions are expected to co-produce the film. Agnihotri has described the story as both urgent and necessary, emphasizing a commitment to honesty, courage, and responsibility in its telling. He stated his intent is not to create noise but to confront it, aiming for authenticity and an edge-of-the-seat cinematic experience.
