A Pattern of Violence
This event echoes other instances of severe violence involving bladed weapons in public spaces. Notably, in February 2016, a man wielding a machete entered a restaurant, triggering a similar panic among approximately 50 patrons. More recently, in February 2026, CCTV footage captured a violent machete attack in a Bolton shop that forced children to take cover. Another case in July 2025 involved a gang preparing for a machete attack that resulted in a victim suffering the amputation of his leg and severe hand injuries, leading to lengthy prison sentences for those involved.
