Aidan Becker, 22, is dead after reportedly stepping in to shield a 14-year-old boy from an alleged attack at Mernda Railway Station. Three individuals, aged 16, 17, and 17, have been charged with murder and armed robbery in connection with the incident. A fourth individual, 18, was also arrested and remanded in custody. Another 17-year-old remains under police guard in hospital and has not yet been formally charged.

Becker's intervention, described by police as an attempt to protect the younger boy without aggression, ultimately led to his fatal injuries on Friday evening. The 14-year-old boy, identified as a schoolboy, was reportedly the target of a group of four alleged teenage assailants.

The family of Aidan Becker has paid tribute to his actions, stating they will "carry his bravery and kindness in our hearts forever." The Premier, Jacinta Allan, is expected to meet with the Becker family, having already placed flowers at the station.
