AFC Bournemouth has settled on Marco Rose, formerly of RB Leipzig, as the next head coach. The German manager will officially assume his duties in the summer, signing a three-year contract. This move follows Andoni Iraola's announcement that he would depart at the season's conclusion upon contract expiry.
The appointment allows both Rose and the club to strategize for the upcoming season, with Bournemouth aiming for a fifth consecutive Premier League campaign and potentially a European debut. Rose's previous success includes guiding Borussia Mönchengladbach to Champions League qualification with limited resources. His tenure at RB Leipzig saw an undefeated streak of 16 matches and an average of over 2.0 goals per game in his first season.
Rose’s management style is described as "courageous" and "high-intensity pressing." His experience includes leading RB Leipzig to German Cup victory and managing prominent players like Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham during his time at Borussia Dortmund. Before coaching senior teams, Rose developed his coaching philosophy within the Red Bull academy system.

Iraola, 43, revealed his decision to leave last Tuesday, ending a three-year spell with the club. His departure comes after leading Bournemouth to their highest-ever top-flight points total of 56 last season, securing a ninth-place finish. Iraola is still set to guide the team through their remaining matches, concluding with a home fixture against Leeds United.
Rose was reportedly a leading contender alongside Ipswich Town's Kieran McKenna. He has been out of work since departing RB Leipzig in March 2025, having also managed Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach. This will be his first foray into Premier League management.
