Luka Doncic will not face a one-game suspension after the NBA rescinded his 16th technical foul of the season. The foul, assessed during Saturday night's game against the Orlando Magic, had initially triggered an automatic ban. The Los Angeles Lakers had filed an appeal with the league shortly after the game concluded.
The league's decision to overturn the technical foul means Doncic is eligible to play in the Lakers' upcoming road game against the Detroit Pistons on Monday night. This outcome mirrors a pattern in Doncic's career, where his 16th technical foul in previous seasons with the Dallas Mavericks was also rescinded.
The technical was assessed late in the third quarter following a verbal exchange between Doncic and Orlando's Goga Bitadze while Doncic was at the free-throw line. Both players reportedly offered different accounts of the exchange that led to the double technical call by referee Marat Kogut.

Bitadze, speaking about the incident, stated that Doncic made inappropriate comments in Serbian, which Bitadze understood due to his own experience playing in Serbia. Bitadze claimed Doncic said, "at the free throw, he would f—- my whole family." In response, Bitadze said he felt compelled to respond in a similar fashion.
The Lakers' appeal was initiated to contest the technical foul that would have resulted in Doncic's suspension. The NBA's final decision on the appeal ultimately determined Doncic's availability for Monday's game.
The incident occurred during the Lakers' victory over the Magic. The decision to rescind the foul averts a significant disruption to the Lakers' lineup as they navigate their schedule.
