The protracted process of forming a new government in Kerala, following the United Democratic Front (UDF)'s electoral success, has drawn sharp criticism from BJP MLA-elect V. Muraleedharan. Muraleedharan, speaking to journalists today, voiced concerns over a potential "governance vacuum" and accused the Congress of prioritizing power over public welfare.
Muraleedharan, who secured a victory in the Kazhakuttom constituency, pointed to the Congress's inability to finalize a Chief Minister selection, despite a decisive win with "over 100 seats," as indicative of a "deep organizational crisis." He suggested this internal struggle explains voters' growing "distancing" from the party nationally.
The BJP leader also demanded that the incoming UDF administration address allegations of a "Sabarimala gold theft." He further called for the "withdrawal of cases" registered in connection with past "Sabarimala agitation." Muraleedharan has reportedly begun coordinating efforts within his constituency, scheduling discussions with the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, including meetings with the Mayor and various department heads to "expedite works."

Responding to questions regarding the role of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) in the new government, Muraleedharan clarified that he had not advocated for their exclusion from ministerial positions.
Congress's Internal Consultations
Recent reports indicate that elected Congress MLAs in Kerala have submitted their feedback to the party's "high command." A resolution has been passed authorizing Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to make the "final decision" on the Chief Ministerial candidate. Observers have stated that the leadership decision is ultimately "left to the party high command." The party had anticipated announcing its Chief Ministerial choice around May 10th.
Muraleedharan's Political Trajectory
V. Muraleedharan, a BJP leader, has a history of organizational work and persistence in Kerala politics. His political journey began with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He previously experienced a notable victory in the Kazhakoottam constituency, which has been described as breaking a "Marxist fort."
