Functionary's Son Slain in Vicious Assault
In a particularly grim development, Kavin, son of Tamilmani, a district president of the PMK (Ramadoss faction), was murdered in Karur. The incident, which occurred while Kavin was returning home with co-workers, involved an argument that escalated violently. According to accounts, Kavin was attacked with a sickle by two minors, aged 17, after an initial altercation. The motive behind the initial dispute remains a point of inquiry. This death adds another layer to the district's growing list of violent incidents.

Stampede Claims Dozens, Minors Among Dead
Earlier, a large-scale political rally organized by actor Vijay's TVK in Karur devolved into a tragedy of immense proportions. A stampede, reportedly exacerbated by an overwhelming crowd at a venue designed for a fraction of the attendees, resulted in the deaths of 39 individuals, including a starkly high number of 10 minors, with the youngest being a 2-year-old.

In a suicide note, he reportedly blamed the DMK leader Senthil Balaji and the police, alleging that the police created chaos and that insufficient security was provided.
