Josie Gibson, a television presenter, has undergone a brachioplasty procedure, which involved the removal of 45 per cent of her arm. This surgical intervention is directly linked to her ongoing battle with lipoedema, a chronic condition affecting fat and connective tissue. Gibson shared her experience via Instagram Stories, reporting positive feelings just a week after the operation.
The procedure, described by Gibson, included both liposuction and an arm lift. She clarified that this was a necessary step due to the lipoedema manifesting on her arms. According to the NHS, lipoedema is a long-term condition characterized by the accumulation of fat and connective tissue, typically in the legs, hips, and bottom, but can also affect the arms.
Gibson expressed feeling "really good" despite the extensive tissue removal. She is scheduled to return to London in the coming week to have her bandages removed and intends to provide further updates to her followers. She also conveyed gratitude towards her surgeon, Paul Tulley, and his team, noting they made her feel "really relaxed" during a period of nervousness about the surgery.

Gibson's decision to undergo brachioplasty surgery stems from the impact of lipoedema, which she stated has significantly hindered her daily activities. She described how even routine tasks, such as "putting out the bins," had become challenging. Despite the temporary limitations posed by the surgery, she affirmed her satisfaction with the decision, stating, "I'm so glad I've had it done."
While the surgical process involves considerable tissue removal, Gibson reported experiencing no pain during her recovery thus far, attributing her quick healing to being a "fast healer." The surgery specifically targets diseased fat cells, differentiating it from procedures focused on general fat reduction for cosmetic purposes.
