Hyderabad, April 15, 2026 – A case has been registered against a Forest Department official, identified as S.P. Suthan, for allegedly sexually harassing his neighbour in the IAS and IPS quarters in Banjara Hills. The complaint details repeated vulgar remarks, obscene gestures, and public nuisance.
The incident reportedly occurred on April 13, when the complainant, a Director at the Indian Telecom Service, returned home from duty around 6:40 PM to hear disturbances from the adjacent residence. She alleges that Suthan emerged, banged his door loudly, and then made lewd propositions and vulgar remarks in a disturbing manner.
Further accounts suggest that when the complainant attempted to record his actions on her phone, Suthan allegedly persisted with his behaviour, making what she described as threatening and humiliating gestures, including showing her the middle finger. Police were alerted, and a patrolling team reportedly arrived to question Suthan and subsequently took him to the police station.

The case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 75 for punishment for sexual harassment and Section 79, which criminalizes acts intended to insult a woman's modesty or intrude upon her privacy. Investigations are underway.
Background
This incident unfolds within a residential area designated for Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, highlighting a stark contrast between the expected decorum and the alleged behaviour. The complainant's professional standing as a Director in the Indian Telecom Service and the accused's position within the Forest Department underscore the seriousness of the allegations within their professional circles.
Reports suggest that Suthan was also allegedly imitating the complainant's pet in Hindi, adding another layer to the alleged public disturbance and harassment. Video evidence, reportedly captured by the complainant, has been submitted as part of her complaint.
