Hyderabad: Authorities apprehended a suspended Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable on Tuesday, seizing a significant quantity of 158 kilograms of dry ganja, estimated to be worth ₹79 lakh. The arrest, made by the Jubilee Hills Task Force and SR Nagar police, occurred near Nature Cure Hospital in SR Nagar. The individual, identified as Panagudu Shiva Krishna, 39, a native of the Alluri Sitharama Raju district in Andhra Pradesh, was found allegedly transporting the contraband in a Chevrolet Sail car.

The police report indicates that Krishna allegedly exploited his CISF identity card to bypass checkpoints and scrutiny while engaged in transporting the narcotics. Investigators suggest this tactic was employed to facilitate his alleged involvement in a wider interstate drug trafficking operation. He was remanded to judicial custody following the arrest.

Further details reveal that Shiva Krishna had previously been arrested and suspended for drug-related offenses. Despite facing criminal charges and departmental action, authorities claim he resumed his drug smuggling activities after his release from jail, continuing to supply ganja to interstate peddlers.

The seizure included the confiscated ganja, the vehicle, and three mobile phones. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, probing his alleged role within a larger drug distribution network.

BACKGROUND
This incident underscores a recurring challenge for law enforcement in interstate drug trafficking. The misuse of official identification by individuals with prior law enforcement or security connections presents a complex obstacle to detection and apprehension. Shiva Krishna’s alleged continued involvement in illicit activities post-release and despite prior convictions highlights persistence within such networks.
