Hyderabad: Authorities apprehended three individuals amidst a substantial seizure of Alprazolam, totaling 39.47 kilograms, along with ₹85.36 lakh in cash. The operation, conducted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Hyderabad, disrupted an alleged illicit manufacturing and trafficking ring. The bust highlights the clandestine production of a controlled substance within the city.
The arrests occurred following an interception of two vehicles near Kalakunta Colony in Siddipet. Two men, aged 48 and 30, were initially detained as an alleged illegal exchange of the psychotropic substance was underway. Subsequent questioning led to the apprehension of a third individual, 49, in Madeenaguda, Hyderabad.
The NCB's action points to a deliberate effort to dismantle operations suspected of producing and distributing Alprazolam. One of the arrested, described as an M.Sc Chemistry graduate and a freelance chemist, reportedly confessed to manufacturing the drug in a hidden laboratory in the Prashant Nagar area of Hyderabad.

Preliminary investigations suggest the network may have been active for an extended period. Reports indicate potential trafficking of around 150 kilograms of Alprazolam over the last five years.
