Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has booked a case of 'Disproportionate Assets' against Kamtam Sravan Kumar, the Tahsildar of Gajwel Mandal in the Siddipet district. Searches conducted at his residence and two other locations have purportedly unearthed movable and immovable properties valued at approximately Rs. 4 crore.
The investigation centers on allegations that Kumar amassed wealth significantly exceeding his known sources of income through unlawful means during his tenure. The discovered assets include substantial real estate holdings and valuables.

These purported holdings consist of two houses, an apartment building comprising six flats, and four open plots situated in Karimnagar Town, with an estimated value of Rs. 2.47 crore. Beyond these immovables, the bureau also claims to have found two two-wheelers worth Rs. 1.60 lakh, a four-wheeler valued at Rs. 30 lakh, gold ornaments totaling Rs. 4.20 lakh, household articles estimated at Rs. 15.66 lakh, and Rs. 11.90 lakh in cash.

Kamatam Sravan Kumar has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. ACB officials indicated that searches were ongoing, with efforts to ascertain the full extent of the assets still underway. This action falls within a broader pattern of intensified anti-corruption efforts by the Telangana ACB.
Context of Corruption Investigations
This incident is not isolated. Recent reports suggest the Telangana ACB has been actively pursuing cases of corruption, with significant sums of unaccounted assets being uncovered. Earlier this year, six major cases alone reportedly revealed around Rs. 500 crore in such assets. For instance, a Deputy Transport Commissioner apprehended in Warangal was found to possess assets reportedly worth Rs. 4.04 crore, though unofficial estimates place the figure considerably higher, at Rs. 50 crore. The ACB employs a dual strategy, focusing on both 'trap cases' to apprehend officials in the act and 'disproportionate asset cases' to uncover hidden wealth.
