In the Koraput district, three Class 10 students met their end in the backwaters of the Kolab reservoir. Reports indicate the students had recently completed their board examinations and were apparently waiting for their parents when the incident occurred. Efforts to rescue them by locals were made, but they were later declared deceased at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital. The identities of these three students are given as Lingaraj Khil (16), Swastik (15), and Om Prakash (16).
Mayurbhanj Pond Incident
Simultaneously, in the Mayurbhanj district, two young girls, identified as Class 2 students, drowned in a pond near their village, Nachhipur, within the Kaptipada police station limits. The girls were reportedly bathing in the pond after school hours when the tragedy struck.
