A Philippine Serpent Eagle, apparently injured, collided with a moving car and entered the passenger compartment on February 3, 2022, near Tanay, Rizal, Philippines. The incident occurred as Renante Balbuena, 33, was filming his first holiday vlog with a GoPro camera. The eagle, described as a "huge bird," landed on the front passenger seat. Balbuena, a restaurant and hotel server from Charleston, South Carolina, expressed immediate shock, noting the bird's bloodied condition and an apparent wound on its left wing.
Balbuena reported that after the initial shock, he approached the eagle, stating he believed it wouldn't harm him. He observed that the bird was wounded and later took steps to care for it, with the eagle reportedly showing signs of improvement after a few days. Balbuena had been attempting to capture footage of the local landscape and wildlife for his YouTube channel at the time of the unexpected encounter. The event was fully recorded by the GoPro camera.
