E.N. Mohandas, a figure entrenched in the organizational machinery of the CPI(M) for decades, has died at the age of 74.
Mohandas passed away on Wednesday at the EMS Memorial Cooperative Hospital in Perinthalmanna. He had been receiving treatment for ailments stemming from a stroke. His departure marks the end of a long tenure within the party apparatus, a journey that began in earnest after his retirement as a headmaster.
His involvement in public life appears to have been deeply rooted in student and youth movements. Mohandas held numerous positions across various party tiers and associated organizations. He served as a member of the CPI(M) State committee and was a former district secretary for the Malappuram district, a post he occupied for two consecutive terms.

His administrative roles extended beyond direct party functions. Mohandas was also the founding manager of the Malappuram edition of 'Desabhimani,' the party's mouthpiece. Furthermore, he acted as the secretary for the EMS Study and Research Centre in Malappuram.
