Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has laid out a significant plank targeting young voters in West Bengal, with a raft of promises centered on job creation and improved sports facilities. The party’s election campaign, particularly in the lead-up to the Assembly polls, highlights a direct appeal to this demographic.
The party's manifesto, themed ‘Sonar Bangla’, outlines 15 major commitments. Key among these are plans to provide financial assistance to unemployed youth, alongside promises for industrial revitalisation in sectors like tea and jute. A concrete promise includes ₹3,000 monthly financial assistance for unemployed youth if the BJP comes to power, mirroring similar support offered to women. The party also champions enhanced sports infrastructure and education, a point underscored by the recent induction of Olympic tennis medallist Leander Paes into the BJP. Paes has spoken about the need to focus on sports education and infrastructure, noting a lack of even a single indoor tennis court nationwide.

The BJP’s strategy involves a multi-pronged approach, blending targeted outreach with larger rallies. Initiatives like ‘Yuva Adda’ and ‘NaMo Yuva Warriors’ have been rolled out by the BJP’s youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). These programs aim to address concerns such as unemployment and crimes against women.
"We will stand with the youth to make Bengal great," said Leander Paes, suggesting that job creation would be a significant outcome if West Bengal embraces change.
Beyond youth-centric promises, the BJP's manifesto also includes commitments on governance, security, and welfare for farmers and government employees. A white paper detailing alleged governance failures under the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is also a part of the campaign strategy.
The party has also unveiled specific schemes such as the 'Yuva Shakti card', presented as a counter to the TMC’s ‘Yuva Saathi’ scheme. In parallel, promises have been made regarding financial aid for women, including ₹3,000 monthly assistance, and plans for 33 per cent reservation for women in state government jobs.
