A Bengaluru-based businessman, Kripalani, currently in judicial custody for alleged sexual harassment and blackmail, faces further legal entanglements. He has been booked in two new cases, including one for threatening a customs officer and his family with death, and another for allegedly misbehaving with police personnel during his ongoing investigation. The new complaints surface amidst ongoing scrutiny into a previous ₹2 crore extortion allegation involving private videos.
The customs officer, identified as Anthony, filed a complaint after imposing penalties in a customs evasion case. Kripalani is accused of seeking revenge, allegedly threatening Anthony, his wife, and children. This action follows an earlier incident where Anthony imposed a fine of approximately ₹8.5 lakh on Kripalani for alleged smuggling activities aimed at evading customs duties. Kripalani, reportedly involved in the electronics business, is said to have conducted transactions without proper customs oversight.

During his custody and a subsequent medical examination, police report Kripalani exhibited aggressive behavior, caused a disturbance at a hospital, and damaged a mobile phone. These incidents have led to the new charges against him.
Authorities are reportedly investigating a wider pattern of extortion linked to Kripalani. Sources indicate the investigation into his blackmail case has taken a new turn, with police probing private videos, prior payments, and potential shared backups. These developments align with earlier reports of similar extortion complaints in the city, where personal trust appears to be exploited for financial gain, often through the use of private images or videos to coerce victims into paying substantial sums or relinquishing valuables. Police sources suggest Kripalani may have harassed over 50 women government officials over the years using similar tactics.
