Asha Bhosle, the legendary Indian playback singer, died on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in Mumbai at the age of 92. Her passing was attributed to multi-organ failure, according to Breach Candy Hospital where she had been admitted on Saturday evening due to exhaustion and a chest infection, later experiencing cardiac arrest and pulmonary complications.
The singer's last rites are scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, April 12, 2026, at Shivaji Park in Mumbai. Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the arrangements, stating that the ceremonies would take place in the afternoon. Earlier, on Monday morning, a public homage will be held at Casa Grande, Lower Parel, where Bhosle resided, allowing fans to pay their final respects from 11 am.

Bhosle, the younger sister of the late Lata Mangeshkar, carved a monumental career spanning over eight decades, recording an estimated 12,500 songs in numerous languages. Her distinctive voice graced the soundtracks of films featuring iconic actresses from Meena Kumari and Madhubala to Kajol and Urmila Matondkar, as well as South Indian stars like Padmini and Vyjayanthimala.
