DETROIT – Chevrolet has pulled the wraps off two new iterations of its iconic Corvette sports car for the 2027 model year: the Grand Sport and the hybrid Grand Sport X. These models introduce a new 6.7-liter naturally aspirated LS6 V-8 engine, delivering 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. The Grand Sport X, a hybrid all-wheel-drive model, pairs this V-8 with an electric motor, achieving a combined output of 721 horsepower. The Grand Sport X is positioned as the successor to the E-Ray.

Both new models inherit the wider bodywork, upgraded suspension, and larger brakes previously seen on the Z06 and ZR1. The standard Grand Sport focuses on rear-wheel-drive precision, offering a connection for the driver. The Grand Sport X, meanwhile, integrates learnings from the all-wheel-drive Corvette ZR1X, including a "Qualifying Mode" designed to temporarily maximize hybrid performance.

The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport and Grand Sport X arrive with a new 6.7-liter LS6 V-8 engine, producing 535 horsepower, with the hybrid Grand Sport X variant reaching a total of 721 horsepower through an electric motor on the front axle.

Performance packages are available for the Grand Sport. The Z52 Sport Performance Package includes upgraded brakes and stiffer suspension, while the Z52 Track Performance Package further adds carbon-ceramic brakes and track-specific suspension tuning. Standard tires on the Grand Sport are Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4, with the Performance Package upgrading to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Chevrolet has officially revived the iconic Grand Sport nameplate for the 2027 model year, introducing two new additions to the C8 Corvette lineup.
Powertrain and Performance Details
The new LS6 V-8 engine is described as naturally aspirated, continuing a legacy of Corvette performance. It is noted as the most torque-heavy naturally aspirated V-8 in the model's history. The hybrid system in the Grand Sport X comprises the LS6 V-8, a front-axle electric motor, and a battery pack, contributing to its increased overall horsepower. While specific performance figures are not yet released, expectations place the Grand Sport's capabilities between the Stingray and the Z06.

Styling and Customization
The revived Grand Sport nameplate brings distinctive styling cues. Both the Grand Sport and Grand Sport X feature wider body panels, visually setting them apart. Visual identifiers include classic red hash marks, now situated near the rear wheels. Interior customization options include specific badging on the steering wheel, unique seat stitching, an optional Santorini Blue Dipped interior, and a waterfall speaker plaque. A new color, Pitch Gray Metallic, is also available.
Market Positioning and Legacy
Chevrolet positions these new models to bridge the gap between existing Corvette offerings, offering enhanced performance at what is suggested to be a more attainable price point compared to some recent Corvette iterations. The Grand Sport nameplate has a history with Chevrolet, appearing on previous generations of the Corvette, notably towards the end of their production runs. The Grand Sport X is specifically noted as replacing the all-wheel-drive hybrid E-Ray.
