Two men face serious charges following the discovery of over 80 kilograms of illicit drugs in Western Australia's South West and Perth metropolitan area. The seizure, involving cocaine, heroin, and methylamphetamine, is a significant disruption to drug networks operating in the region.

The alleged haul was uncovered following a traffic stop on the Forrest Highway in West Pinjarra around 8:15 pm on January 13. Detectives subsequently executed search warrants, leading to the seizure of substantial quantities of narcotics.

More than 50 kilograms of methylamphetamine, approximately 20 kilograms of cocaine, and 2 kilograms of heroin were reportedly found at a residence on Cabramatta Street in Bayswater. A second search warrant, executed on January 14 at a home on Laurent Way in Dalyellup, yielded further quantities of cocaine, methylamphetamine, and unlawfully possessed prescription drugs. Police also reportedly found about 1kg of cocaine in a silver Mazda 3 during their investigations.

Context and Related Incidents
This seizure occurs amidst broader concerns about organised crime and drug importation in Australia. Reports indicate that authorities are actively targeting such activities, with recent operations highlighting the scale of these networks.
In August 2025, a separate operation in Perth saw WA Police seize 40 kilograms of methamphetamine, cash, firearms, and a Ferrari. WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch noted at the time that the amount of drugs seized in Australia exceeded consumption levels, suggesting drugs were being trafficked onward.
An Australian Federal Police (AFP) report from October 7, 2024, detailed charges against two Western Australian men in relation to a drug import. The AFP mentioned facilitating the delivery of a consignment to an Ellenbrook property on October 1, indicating a sustained effort against drug smuggling.
Recent news cycles also highlight broader societal trends, including Australia's record low fertility rate and shifts in population movement and education demographics, though these appear unrelated to the recent drug bust. Similarly, reports on Perth housing market dynamics and the presence of US sporting figures in Melbourne represent disparate information streams.
