Vampire Crawlers has launched with a set of 12 distinct Arcana cards, each serving as a permanent equippable boon that significantly influences a player's strategy from the outset of a dungeon run. These cards introduce a layer of persistent augmentation, fundamentally altering how runs are approached and managed.
Unlocking these powerful boons requires specific in-game actions and achievements. Among the noted prerequisites are playing 'Crawler' cards 100 times and playing 'purple' cards 100 times. 'Purple' cards are further identified as mana-generating or 'Tome' cards. Additional unlock conditions mentioned include playing 150 'Wild' cards and playing 500 'Free to Play' cards. The ability to utilize Arcana cards is tied to unlocking the 'Polentír Relic', which subsequently causes the 'Arcana Tent' to appear in the village. Once unlocked, players can select and equip one Arcana before commencing a run.

Several Arcana cards offer unique strategic advantages. For instance, the 'Your Shield My Liege' card allows armor to persist between turns, synergizing with abilities like 'Shield Bash' which converts armor into damage. Other Arcanas focus on mana management, with some enabling players to retain up to 5 mana between turns and others permanently increasing mana accumulation after every 100 cards played. The 'Fortune Teller' card, once unlocked, provides an interface within the Arcana Tent to view and select available Arcanas.
The introduction of Arcana cards positions them as a key progression system within Vampire Crawlers, offering substantial buffs and encouraging diverse gameplay approaches. The game launched with these 12 cards, providing a foundational set of strategic options for players to explore.
