Further plans for Windrose's evolution include a suite of quality-of-life improvements. These are being developed with player feedback in mind, with Kraken Express implementing a new tool to facilitate a more direct channel between the development team and its player base. Among the anticipated enhancements are - adjustments to audio and immersion, expanded eight-player co-op capabilities, randomized loot tables replacing fixed drops, and the implementation of DLSS/FSR support aimed at boosting performance.
Players can also expect the addition of a dedicated signal fire construction element, intended to improve visibility from afar, and controller input enhancements to broaden accessibility beyond the current keyboard-and-mouse focus. These updates follow a period of highly successful demos, with the game previously charting 1.5 million wishlists.
The game, available on Steam and its official site, presents a survival adventure in an alternative Age of Piracy. It challenges players to progress from novice to formidable pirates, incorporating elements of crafting and survival. Gameplay features include procedural islands, seas, and dungeons, challenging bosses, and seamless transitions between ship-based and land-based combat. Windrose supports solo offline play and co-operative multiplayer. The development team has maintained a flexible schedule to adapt to the evolving needs of its growing player base.
