A one-year-old girl, identified as Pavithra, was found deceased under suspicious circumstances in Vamanapuram. Police have taken her mother, Aswathy, into custody for questioning.

The child was discovered unresponsive in her home. Authorities noticed marks on the infant's neck, leading to suspicions of foul play. The grandmother of the child, who had been out for work, found the toddler lying motionless on the floor upon her return.

The police are investigating inconsistencies in statements provided, particularly those of the child's mother, Aswathy. Initial reports indicate that the mother confessed to suffocating the child. The stated motive, according to police interrogations, was the child's frequent illnesses and the mother's resulting distress.
The exact cause of death is awaiting post-mortem examination results. However, preliminary observations at the scene included marks on the child's neck and potential abrasions on her lips.

The incident occurred at the residence of the child's grandmother in Kanichodu, near Vamanapuram. The child's parents have been identified as Subhash and Aswathy. Investigations are being conducted by the Vamanapuram and Venjaramoodu police, with the assistance of the Attingal Deputy Superintendent of Police.
