The Udupi police have detained two individuals, described as inter-state offenders, in connection with a reported house break-in and subsequent theft in Kaup taluk. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of January 30, allegedly saw valuables valued at over ₹19 lakh disappear from a residence in Kothalakatte, Uliyargoli village. Police statements suggest the apprehended individuals have prior cases registered against them in both Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The operation was reportedly overseen by Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar.

In a separate development, Villupuram taluk police have arrested two persons linked to a series of alleged house break-ins. Authorities claim to have recovered 25 sovereigns of gold jewellery from the pair. Reports indicate the individuals were apprehended after being observed moving suspiciously near the Villupuram central bus stand on two-wheelers, allegedly targeting locked houses. Following their interception, the duo reportedly confessed to involvement in multiple house break-ins within Villupuram town.

Further afield, a report from Chengalpattu details an incident where villagers, aided by a drone, purportedly apprehended two youths suspected of attempting to break into a house. The owner’s son allegedly spotted the individuals, who then fled on a bike. A pursuit ensued, with the suspects reportedly seeking refuge in a lake.

Separately, Thoraipakkam police have reported the apprehension of four men in connection with two distinct house break-ins. Approximately four sovereigns of gold ornaments and three pairs of silver anklets were reportedly recovered. Police have identified some of the accused, with at least one reportedly having prior cases registered against him, and another described as a known "history-sheeter."
