'Louder Than Fear' Set for Hulu Release This Summer
A documentary exploring Travis Barker's survival of a "life-changing" 2008 plane crash is slated to debut on Hulu this summer. Titled 'Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear', the film is reportedly a decade in the making and will delve into the aftermath of the event that killed four people, including his close friend and assistant. The documentary promises an unfiltered look at Barker's journey following the crash, a pivotal experience that he states "fundamentally changed" him.
Barker himself has been instrumental in the project, reportedly calling Disney executives to express his desire to share his story. The film aims to provide insight into his complex personal battles, touching upon pain, grief, and the precarious line between survival and surrender. It will also spotlight the individuals who supported him through this difficult period. Barker has previously spoken about his struggles with substance use in the crash's aftermath, including the use of marijuana and prescription drugs. His friend, Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein, who also survived the crash, died a year later from an accidental prescription drug overdose.

A Look Back at the Tragedy
The 2008 incident, which occurred during takeoff in South Carolina, resulted in severe injuries for Barker, including third-degree burns over 65 percent of his body. He underwent numerous surgeries, including 26 operations and multiple skin grafts, to recover. Beyond the physical trauma, the crash left him with profound post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), an experience he has shared publicly, including on reality television programs. Barker credits his children with helping him navigate this trauma and find a path forward when he felt hopeless.
Overcoming Fear, With Support
A significant aspect of Barker's recovery has been his journey to overcome his debilitating fear of flying. He has publicly and repeatedly credited his wife, Kourtney Kardashian, with providing crucial support that enabled him to return to air travel. Barker has mentioned that he will not book his own flights and instead relies on Kardashian, his father, and his children for comfort and support before and during flights. He celebrated his 30th flight since the crash in July 2023, acknowledging Kardashian's role in his progress. An episode of 'The Kardashians' showed Kardashian offering a prayer for Barker before a flight. This support system appears to have played a vital role in his healing process, with Barker describing the "power of love" from his wife as a key factor.
