BBC Radio 4's long-running rural drama, The Archers, is embarking on a national stage tour titled "The Archers: Live at 75" to commemorate its 75th anniversary. The tour, spanning from June to November 2026, will feature eight prominent actors performing in two rotating casts of four, bringing the fictional village of Ambridge to live audiences across the UK.
The initiative aims to celebrate over two decades of broadcast, encompassing more than 20,000 episodes, and highlight the enduring appeal of the series, which remains a popular on-demand program on BBC Sounds, particularly among listeners under 35. The live event promises a blend of theatricality, nostalgia, and behind-the-scenes insights. Audiences can anticipate specially written scenes performed live with foley sound effects, on-stage interviews, insider stories, archival material from the BBC vaults, demonstrations of sound artistry, interactive pub quizzes, and a sing-along to the iconic theme tune. The tour's concept is framed as a playful reimagining of the Ambridge Flower & Produce Show.

Among the confirmed cast members for the tour are Timothy Bentinck (David Archer), Charlotte Martin (Susan Carter), Ben Norris (Ben Archer), and Annabelle Dowler (Kirsty Miller). Other notable voices joining the production include Charles Collingwood (Brian Aldridge), Ryan Kelly (Jazzer McCreary), Sunny Ormonde (Lilian Bellamy), and Susie Riddell (Tracy Horrobin).
The tour includes stops in major cities such as Manchester, Stoke-on-Trent, Nottingham, Birmingham, Liverpool, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and London, among others. Tickets for "The Archers: Live at 75" are currently available, with initial sales beginning in December 2025.
Beyond the live tour, the 75th-anniversary celebrations include an extension of the availability of The Archers episodes on BBC Sounds. Previously capped at a 30-day window, episodes will now be accessible for five years post-broadcast, an adjustment aimed at catering to its digital-first audience.
The program, which first aired in 1951, has chronicled the lives of its fictional residents while reflecting broader social and cultural shifts in Britain. Its continued popularity is evidenced by its consistent ranking as a top on-demand program. The tour's creators express hope that the live shows will offer fans an enhanced experience, "an extra slice of Ambridge life." This venture marks a notable instance of The Archers extending its presence beyond its traditional radio format.
