Recent events in Sydney's eastern suburbs have brought to light deeply troubling accusations against individuals within the education sector. Reports indicate a principal is under fire for allegedly assaulting and intimidating a senior teacher. This follows a separate, earlier incident in January 2026, where a teacher, Peter James Adam, from the International Grammar School, was charged with plotting "abhorrent" child sexual assaults.
The gravity of these separate accusations, one involving alleged violence within a school hierarchy and another concerning severe child exploitation offenses, casts a long shadow over educational institutions in the region.
In the January 2026 case, Peter James Adam was arrested at his Bondi residence. The International Grammar School stated it was alerted to the charges on the Thursday following his Wednesday arrest and subsequently stood him down. Adam faces charges including inciting aggravated sex assault and using electronic devices to solicit child abuse material. The court proceedings revealed that Adam had admitted to communicating with minors. His next court appearance was scheduled for February 4, 2026.

Separately, an earlier report from May 2018 detailed a teacher from an Adelaide eastern suburbs high school facing charges related to child sex offenses. The principal at that time had communicated the teacher's arrest to parents via email. This teacher was charged with making a child amenable to sexual activity and aggravated indecent assault. The Education Department confirmed the employee was removed from duties, and parents were informed.
