Prosecution Details Alleged Attack; Defense Vows Acquittal
The assault trial for former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs commenced today with starkly contrasting narratives. Prosecutors, represented by Norfolk Assistant District Attorney Drew Virtue, detailed an alleged physical confrontation where Diggs is accused of entering his private chef's bedroom, slapping her, and applying a headlock that impeded her breathing. The chef, identified as Mila Adams, is expected to testify about these events, including an argument over money owed for her work.
The prosecution's opening statement described Diggs entering Adams' bedroom, slapping her, and placing her in a headlock that caused breathing difficulties before throwing her onto the bed. Adams reportedly told officers she experienced trouble breathing and felt she might lose consciousness during the alleged incident.
Diggs' legal team, led by attorney Andrew Kettlewell, immediately challenged these assertions. They maintained that Diggs is innocent and that the alleged violent attack never occurred. Kettlewell explicitly stated, "It did not happen."

Accuser's Account Emerges
Mila Adams, the chef, has come forward with her account, reportedly stating that she was "in shock" during the incident. Court records indicate that Adams told officers she and Diggs had an argument concerning outstanding payments for her services. According to her testimony, on December 2, while she was reading in bed, Diggs entered her room. She described an attempt to demonstrate how Diggs allegedly put his arm around her neck and choked her. Adams stated she has known Diggs for approximately four years and that she was unable to breathe during the encounter.
Legal Representation and Proceedings
Mitchell Schuster also appears to be involved in Diggs' legal defense, having represented him previously. The trial, which began with jury selection, is taking place in Dedham, Massachusetts.
