Stefon Diggs, the former New England Patriots wide receiver, has been found not guilty on all counts of felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault. The verdict was delivered Tuesday in Dedham District Court following a jury's deliberation. Diggs faced accusations from his former live-in personal chef, Jamila Adams, stemming from an alleged incident in December 2025.
The core of the defense's argument centered on questioning the accuser's financial motives and the physical evidence of the alleged assault. Key testimony from individuals in Diggs' orbit, including hairstylist Xia Charles, suggested that Adams appeared normal and uninjured in the days following the alleged incident. Charles also testified that Adams expressed plans to sue Diggs for back pay and a hostile work environment, and had inquired about payment.
Defense attorneys pressed Adams regarding financial demands she made and inconsistencies in her account of pay. Witnesses stated Adams did not exhibit visible marks or injuries after the alleged attack. One witness, Charles, testified that she did not see any bruising or redness on Adams when she met with her, and that Adams never mentioned Diggs assaulting her. Defense counsel argued that Adams's account of the alleged assault was not credible, citing her demeanor and statements made in the days after the encounter.

The prosecution, meanwhile, argued that the case hinged on Adams's firsthand account of what transpired inside Diggs's home. Adams testified that Diggs assaulted her during a dispute over money. She stated Diggs hit her on the right side of her face, an assertion the defense deemed impossible.
Prior to the verdict, closing arguments were presented. The defense aimed to cast doubt on Adams's testimony by highlighting financial questions and discrepancies. Prosecutors relied on Adams's narrative of the alleged event. Diggs, who spent the 2025 season with the Patriots, was facing potential prison time if convicted. The outcome could influence his status as a free agent.
