A significant update to the beta branch of 'Slay the Spire 2', patch v0.105.0, has officially removed the Act 3 boss known as Doormaker. In its stead, developers Mega Crit have introduced a new boss entity, Aeonglass. This change arrives alongside the implementation of a long-awaited Bestiary feature, offering players a compendium of encountered enemies. The update also signals a shift in the development cadence, with Mega Crit moving to a bi-weekly patching schedule.
The Doormaker, a boss that had undergone numerous reworks and faced considerable player criticism for its complexity and perceived frustration, has been excised from the game. Aeonglass, the replacement, reportedly features different mechanics and includes a mechanic that applies three stacks of Artifact, a debuff that prevents other debuffs from taking hold.
The removal of Doormaker appears to be a direct response to player feedback. Developers have stated that the boss "ultimately surpassed the complexity threshold they aimed for." The previous iterations of Doormaker were characterized by mechanics that could permanently exhaust cards, limit card draw, and increase card costs, leading to significant player frustration and even instances of review bombing against the game.

Beyond the boss alteration, the patch addresses a wide array of game elements. Numerous cards and relics have seen balance adjustments. For instance, the Blade of Ink card's enchantment damage has been reduced, while the Crescent Spear card's base damage has been increased. The Sword Sage card has been reworked to offer new synergies, particularly with the Parry card. Additionally, the Bulwark and Patter cards have received nerfs, reducing their block-granting capabilities.
New relics have also been added to the game. These include Kaleidoscope, which offers bonus card rewards from other characters, Fishing Rod, which upgrades a random card after a set number of combats, and Silken Tress, which enchants the first card reward with the "Glam" effect.
The patch notes also detail numerous bug fixes and user interface improvements. These range from addressing visual glitches and softlocks in multiplayer modes to refining controller navigation and fixing issues with save files. Translations for various languages have also been updated or corrected.

This marks a strategic adjustment in the development process following a period of intense feedback and adjustments, particularly concerning the game's balance and contentious boss encounters.
